Cardiff Airport and Marie Curie fired up for 2012
Published: 25 August 2011
Cardiff Airport has teamed up with Marie Curie Cancer Care and Serco to produce a calendar that’s certain to make 2012 a fiery year.
Nine Serco firefighters based at the airport came together for a photo shoot with photographer Malcolm Bradbury. Louise McCarthy, Catherine Hillier and Cheryl Webster from Cardiff and Vale College also gave up their time to ensure the models looked at their very best for the shoot.
This is the third time the men have posed for the cameras following the huge success of the first edition published in 2006, and the second in 2009, which raised £3,350 for their nominated charity.
All funds raised from the calendar will be donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care, a charity providing high quality nursing care to terminally ill patients, totally free of charge, within people’s homes all over South East Wales and at the local Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth.
Perry Latham, Serco station manager based at Cardiff Airport said of his experience: “It was good fun to be involved in the calendar shoot once again this year and we’re all pleased with the results. The calendar was a big hit in 2009, and we hope the success will be repeated this time so we can help Marie Curie raise much needed funds.”
As the summer comes to an end the calendars are guaranteed to raise temperatures as we head into 2012. The calendars are on sale now for £4.00 with all proceeds going to Marie Curie.
