Cardiff Airport Supports “Healing the Wounds”

Published: 21 July 2011

Cardiff Airport will be the focus of a fundraising event beginning 1st August through to 31st October on behalf of Welsh Based Armed Forces Charity, “Healing the Wounds”

Healing the Wounds, a registered charity was set up by Mr Kevin Richards, himself an ex-military Medic, just under 2 years ago.

The main objective of the charity is to offer treatment and support to our Serving Military and Ex-Military Personnel who due to conflict of war may be suffering from “Post Traumatic Stress Disorder” (PTSD).

The effects of PTSD on our military personnel not only effects them, but can, and does impact on their families too, so support from Healing The Wounds is also available to them.

Using a 4 day intensive treatment programme for sufferers, which has been extremely successful, this is the only facility of its kind within Wales, avoiding the need for our Veterans and other sufferers to travel distances to receive treatment.

This is a wonderful opportunity to raise funds, but just as important is raising the awareness that there is help here in Wales, and Cardiff Airport has kindly offered Healing the Wounds the facility to do both.

Margaret James, Cardiff Airport’s Contracts and Quality Manager said: “We’re delighted to offer our support to such a worthy cause, and hope that staff and passengers at the airport will be generous in their donations to help raise much needed funds for Healing the Wounds, an excellent charity supporting the armed forces here in Wales.”

Kevin Richards, Healing The Wounds founder said: "We would like to thank Cardiff Airport for their fantastic support to raise money for the charity, helping us to provide much needed treatment within Wales for our Armed Forces, Veterans and their families. Kind help from dedicated volunteers will help us to raise money to continue providing this facility within Wales."

Volunteers are needed to help make this a success, and you can be part of this campaign by offering just a few hours of your time to help with this fundraising and awareness event.

If you can offer support then please visit Healing the Wounds website, or telephone 01446 795137. Your help can and will really make a difference to someone here in Wales. Visit www.healingthewounds.co.uk
