Ad hoc flights to Verona with Newmarket Holidays

Published: 07 September 2011

Direct flights from Cardiff Airport offer wider holiday choice.

Italian Lakes and cities, and Austrian Tyrol all included in 2012 programme.

Travellers from South Wales next year will have an even wider choice when flying with specialist tour operator Newmarket Holidays, with some wonderful ‘lakes and mountains’, resort-based or escorted two-centre touring breaks available in June or October. The week-long holidays, from a company for whom 2012 will be a thirtieth year of operation, all include specially chartered return flights to Bergamo or Verona direct from the South Wales gateway at Cardiff, and feature good quality hotel accommodation and the services of friendly, professional tour managers who will bring to life the places visited.

Ever-popular Italy

Glorious Garda, Italy's largest and most scenic body of water, has been a firm favourite for many a year, and Newmarket offer a huge choice of hotels based at various resorts dotted along the lake's shoreline, with optional excursions offered during the week to breathtaking, incomparable Venice and Romeo and Juliet’s exquisite Verona, with its magnificent Roman amphitheatre.

For those looking to combine rest and relaxation with even more exploration, the popular 'Seven Cities of Italy' tour also includes  - in addition to these two gems – the Renaissance glories of Florence, breathtaking Siena, medieval San Gimignano, fabled Assisi and the ‘Eternal City’ of Rome. Three nights are spent on the shores of Lake Garda, with four more spent high in the Apennine hills.

Lakes & Mountains

New for next year is another two-centre break featuring some of Europe’s most alluring and contrasting scenery, combining a three-night stay close to Garda with four nights in a delightful shore-side hotel on lesser known Mergozzo, said to contain the cleanest and purest of all the Alpine bodies of water. On the journey between these two contrasting holiday idylls a visit is made to beautiful Lake Maggiore, where a water-taxi connects the elegant lakeside resort of Stresa with the trio of offshore Borromean Isles. Other optional excursions on offer include the ‘Cinderella’ lake of Orta, wooded Lake Como with its sumptuous villas, and delightful Swiss Lugano.

Timeless attractions

A third two-centre holiday pairs Garda’s timeless attractions with the delights of the Austrian Tyrol, reached via a journey through the craggy Dolomites that divide one of Europe’s most scenic regions and the lake’s northern shores. Optional excursions include Tyrolean capital Innsbruck and the ‘Sound of Music’ city of Salzburg.

Completing Newmarket’s quintet of hugely enjoyable breaks is a stay in the famous Adriatic resort of Lido di Jesolo, with visits to Venice and the historic university city of Padua included during the week.

Alison Keeble, Newmarket Holidays’ director, commenting on the special departures, said, “I’m especially pleased that following the great success over many years we’ve enjoyed from Cardiff, which really is one of the best UK airports to fly from, we’ve been able to add more holiday choice for next year.”
