Airport team flies through the three peaks

Published: 18 June 2010

A team from Cardiff Airport raised over £3,500 for Welsh cancer charity Tenovus by climbing the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours.

Walkers Patrick Duffy, Oliver Jaycock, Jon Nicholas, Ceri Mashlan and Catrin Elis started at the foot of Ben Nevis at 7am on Saturday, 12 June, and reached the peak of Snowdon at 6.56am on Sunday, 13 June, beating the allocated challenge time by a mere four minutes.

Drivers Mike Coe, Bill Kitchen and Avril Brown also gave up their weekend to feed and transport the team from one mountain to the next, as well as assist with the fundraising.

Walker and airport managing director Patrick Duffy commented: " It was a challenging 24 hours but a great experience for us all and a good team building exercise."

"We're delighted to be able to donate the funds raised to such a good cause, and would like to thank everyone for their support and donations".

Tenovus is a cancer charity which offers support, advice and treatment for cancer patients and their families in Wales, at the heart of the community.
