Published: 29 October 2010
bmibaby is celebrating the start of its new service from Cardiff Airport to Munich, which commences on 31 October 2010.
bmibaby will be the only low cost carrier to operate this route from Cardiff Airport.
The low cost carrier will operate up to three flights a week between Cardiff and Munich, Germany's third largest city.
With a timely launch ahead of the famous Christmas markets in Munich, bmibaby expects to carry over 10,000 passengers on the new route over the winter period. The airline's low fares to Munich will make this a popular route with both business and leisure travellers.
Currently celebrating eight years of flying from Cardiff Airport, Julian Carr, managing director, bmibaby, said: "We are delighted to have added Munich to our network of routes from Cardiff Airport. Munich is a cosmopolitan city and as Germany is not currently served from the region, Munich is perfect for leisure and business travellers.
"This new route will allow the region to develop strong business links with Germany and will provide much needed connectivity from the region to Germany as well as important inward investment.
"It really is an exciting time for the airline in Cardiff as the launch of Munich coincides with our eighth birthday. We are proud to continue to offer people of the region exciting European destinations to visit."
