Published: 11 October 2010

Cardiff Airport will be holding an emergency training exercise on Saturday, 16 October 2010 between 0900 and approx. 1600 in which all local emergency services will participate.

The training, in line with the licensing requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority is an opportunity for all airport partners and the emergency services to test and measure response procedures should an incident occur.

Various partners including Cardiff Airport employees, Serco Fire Services, Servisair, ICTS, Emcor, NATS, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, South Wales Police and South Wales Ambulance Service will participate. To avoid causing undue alarm to passengers and local residents the emergency vehicles involved will not be using blue lights when responding.

The exercise will be held within the main terminal building and the southern area of the airfield, using airport access points in Rhoose.

The airport will remain fully operational during the exercise.

The exercise aims to keep any impact on local residents to a minimum however, Cardiff Airport would like to apologise for any disturbance or inconvenience caused during the exercise.

Emergency training and exercises are essential for airports and the safety and security of both staff and passengers is our number one priority.
