Cardiff Airport’s Easter getaway
Published: 12 April 2011
Cardiff Airport is expecting an estimated 51,000 passengers to travel through its doors over the Easter school holidays from 15 April to 03 May.
With four bank holidays falling over the period, many South Wales travellers are heading in search of a sun or city break this year, with Amsterdam top of the bill as the most popular destination, followed by Belfast and Edinburgh.
The first Helvetic Airways service to Zurich departed at the end of March, and the four weekly service was introduced just in time for passengers looking for a city break over the Easter holidays.
The recent bout of warm weather in the UK has also offered a taste of the sun for local passengers, with many heading to warmer climates for more sunshine before the start of the summer season, including destinations such as Alicante, Malaga, Majorca and the Canary Islands.
Ceri Mashlan, Cardiff Airport’s Terminal Services and Security Manager: “As well as looking forward to welcoming Welsh passengers to the airport over the Easter holiday, we’ll also be welcoming visitors to Wales from worldwide destinations.
We’re asking all travellers to check the website for the latest security advice by clicking here before travelling to the airport to ensure their journey through the airport goes smoothly so that they can relax and start enjoying their holiday from the moment they arrive at our terminal.”
