Atlantic Holidays to operate a direct flight to Madeira from Cardiff
Published: 25 January 2011
Atlantic Holidays will be operating a flight from Cardiff Airport to Madeira during summer 2011, giving South Wales passengers access to the Portuguese island from their local airport.
The flight will operate on 22 August 2011, with prices starting from £499 for 7 nights in 3* Bed and Breakfast accommodation in Hotel Estrelicia, including flights, transfers and taxes.
The archipelago of Madeira is of volcanic origin but unlike other islands in the cluster Madeira is lush and verdant, boasting warm climates and rich agricultural resources. The island has something to offer everyone, from the wonderful parks and gardens to crystal clear seas and towering cliffs, and from rustic villages in quiet valleys to sheer mountains and amazing views.
Dino Toouli sales and marketing manager at Atlantic Holidays said “We’re delighted to add Cardiff Airport to our portfolio and are confident that Madeira will prove extremely popular to those living in the catchment area. We’ll exclusively be re positioning a Monarch Airlines A320 aircraft to operate this flight solely for Atlantic Holidays”
Spencer Birns, Cardiff Airport’s head of air service development and commercial operations added: “We welcome Atlantic Holidays back to Cardiff Airport and South Wales. Welsh travellers have expressed to us that they want flights to Madeira from their local airport and we’ve been working with Funchal Airport to encourage Atlantic Holidays to serve the route.
The operator is testing the market to view the demand for themselves, and therefore we hope the service is a success in order to encourage the operator to offer more flights from Cardiff to Madeira in future.”
