National Lottery Lucky Ball Girl Hopes for Double Jackpot for Wales
Published: 17 March 2011
The National Lottery’s very own ‘lucky ball girl’, the reigning Miss Wales, Courtenay Hamilton, was wishing Welsh rugby fans a double dose of luck as she handed out tickets for Friday’s awesome £90million* EuroMillions jackpot at Cardiff Airport today (Thursday March 17th)
Rugby fans jetting off to Paris ahead of Wales’ 6Nations clash against France on Saturday were hoping to hit the jackpot on and off the pitch as they were handed the tickets by the Welsh beauty.
Wales are already carrying the mantle of the ‘luckiest team in the tournament’ after the ‘try that never was’ beat the Irish last week. Wales and its fans are keeping their fingers crossed to beat France well in Paris on Saturday and hoping that the Irish trounce England by a decent score to hand Wales the Six Nations crown.
If a Welsh rugby fan was to win this Friday’s entire jackpot, they would immediately leap to second in the exclusive National Lottery Rich List, just trailing the anonymous ticket-holder who banked £113 million last year.
According to The Sunday Times Rich List 2010, they would be as rich as George Michael (£90 million), wealthier than Robbie Williams (£85 million) and worth double the fortune of supermodel Kate Moss (£43 million). However, they would still have some catching up to do to match Welsh legends Sir Tom Jones (£130million) and Catherine Zeta Jones (£195million)
It has been an amazing couple of years for EuroMillions players here in the UK. Since June 2009, Brits have won the EuroMillions jackpot a staggering 14 times. Some of the lucky winners during this spree include Nigel Page who won £56 million in February 2010, Les Scadding who won £45 million in November 2009 and of course the UK’s biggest ever lottery win, the anonymous £113m ticket-holder in October last year.
A National Lottery spokesperson said: “We’re keeping our fingers crossed for a UK winner this Friday – if the jackpot is won in the UK, it would be the second biggest lottery prize ever paid out and the winner would not only be able to change their own life but also the lives of their friends and family around them.
“As well as the chance to win a staggering estimated £90 million, by playing EuroMillions people are also helping to raise funds for Good Causes all over the UK”
EuroMillions has rolled five times to reach the £90 million jackpot. If no-one matches all five main numbers and two Lucky Star numbers on Friday to win the EuroMillions jackpot, then it will roll to the following draw (Friday 25 March).
