In addition to support and sponsorship given through The Community Fund, Cardiff Airport will develop a comprehensive learning programme for local educational establishments.

The below activity will be restricted to October - May only.

This will include but not be limited to the following;

1. Tours/ presentations on site at CWL

  • primary school
  • secondary school
  • College 
  • University

2. Off site presentations/ lectures

  • primary school
  • secondary school
  • College 
  • University

3. School projects/ case studies

  • primary school
  • secondary school
  • College 
  • University

4. Work experience

 

On site tours and presentations

These will be limited to 30 visitors per session. The sessions will last between 1 - 2 hours depending on the ages of the visitors attending.

A maximum charge of £100 per visit will be made to cover associated costs.  Any additional costs will be discussed and agreed before hand.

Presentations will be pre-prepared and tailored to meet the educational needs of the age group attending. 

Please note the quota for on site tours and presentations for the 2010/11 school year has been fulfilled.  Requests for 2011/12 are now being accepted.

 

Off site presentations/ lectures and projects/case studies

These will be considered on an individual basis dependent on the aims and objectives of the activity and staff resources required. 

 

Application

To apply for support the educational establishment must send in writing a proposed plan detailing how they wish to utilise airport support. 

For tours and presentations the establishment must also provide the following information;

  • The number of students involved
  • The age, educational requirements of the students
  • Preferred dates/times for activity to take place (within airport parameters)

Work experience

Currently work experience is coordinated through Careers Wales.  Weekly work experience placements are limited to 4 during the winter season, currently October to March only.
