ePassport Gates

Cardiff Airport is offering a brand new service to passengers, which will make travelling through your local airport even more convenient.

The airport, in partnership with the UK Border Agency, has installed brand new state of the art ePassport Gates at Border Control, which can be used by passengers over 18 in possession of a chipped passport.

The automated gate system is being trialled for passengers with a new style ePassport, and the cutting edge facial recognition technology will improve the passenger experience when arriving at Cardiff Airport. Eligible travellers will be holders of an ePassport containing a chip, which includes British citizens, EU/EEA citizens, Swiss or Liechtenstein nationals aged 18 years and over. No registration or application form is required. Staff will be on hand to provide help and advice in using the gates, and will continue to carry out manual checks where necessary.

If you have a logo similar to this one on the cover of your passport and you are over 18 you will be able to use the ePassport Gates.
